Dharamshala is a beautiful town and a municipal council in Kangra district in the northern regions of India in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It offers Breathtaking views of the snow-laden mountains, exotic culture, quaint old monasteries and many tourist attractions . Dharamsala is located at 32°13′00″N 76°19′12″E / 32.2167°N 76.32°E / 32.2167; 76.32 with an average elevation of 1457 meters . The total area covered by Dharamsala is almost 29 km². Dharamshala located near foot of snow wrapped lofty Dhauladhar range and offers a magnificent views of snowy peaks, deodar forest and pine forests, tea garden and beautiful hills. Numerous streams, cool healthy air, attractive surroundings and the nearby snowline, Dharamsala has everything for a perfect holiday with full of peaceful life. Today, Dharamshala in the north Indian State of Himachal Pradesh is home to a large Tibetan Community who have made Dharamshala their home.

Places to see

Bhagsunag Falls:- The spectacular Bhagsunag waterfalls situated about 11 km. from the town of Dharamsala. It is known for its old temple, a fresh water spring, water falls and slate quarries. This spot can be easily accessed by road.

Dal Lake:- Dal lake is about 10 km from Dharamshala enclosing Deodar and Fir trees. The Dal lake is another picturesque spot.

McLeod Ganj:- also known as the little Lhasa, McLeod Ganj draws more publicity from the residence of His Holiness Dalai Lama. The little town with clusters of maonasteries and Buddha Statue is one of the largest Tourist attractions in Dharamsala.

Jwalamukhi Temple:- Jwalamukhi Temple is dedicated to the Goddess of Light. There is no idol to worship in the temple. It is famous for constantly burning blue flame, coming from inside the rocks.

St. John's Church:- St. John's Church lies in between McLeod Ganj to Forsythe Ganj. It encloses the tomb of Lord Elgin , known as one of the Viceroys of British India.

War Memorial:- The War Memorial is situated near the starting point to Dharamshala commemorates. This was established in the sweet memory of those who fought valiantly for the honour and defence of the mother land. The place is ideally situated in the pine forest.

Kunal Pathari:- Kunal pathari located at 3 km from Dharamshala in Kotwali Bazar. This is an amazing place famous as the rock temple of the local goddess.
